Armistice Day 2020

At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, Homertonians gather in the Great Hall to commemorate the fallen… except this year. Despite national Covid-lockdown, Trish Maude, Lay Chaplain of the College, was determined that Homerton should create an event which honoured the occasion and honoured our tradition. The result was this short recorded Act of Remembrance, released on YouTube with careful timing so that the chiming of the bell struck at 11am.

Also on the Homersphere, see Philip Stephenson’s masterly and personal evocation of the end of war, using William Nicholson’s intense painting Armistice Night, 1918.
